Inscription Guide Inscription Leveling Guide | WoW Inscription Guide 1 - 525

I made this Inscription guide for you so you level up your Inscription profession as fast as possible from 1 to 525. It is of course compatible with the newest expansion Cataclysm.

In this Inscription Leveling Guide I included all the materials you need for crafting, so you will just fly through the leveling process. For Inscription it is recommended to have also Herbalism profession. So you may also want to check my Herbalism Leveling Guide as well.

If you want to earn a lot of money with your professions (also with farming certain materials), I warmly recommend this Tycoon Gold Addon. It is an in-game addon, with it you will dominate the game without endless grinding.

If you are leveling up your character, I would recommend you a good WoW Leveling Guide, which shows you in-game (it's an addon) where to go and which quest to do. Personally I use Zygor Guides and it took me 5 days of playtime from level 1 to 85.

Here are the sections of the guide:

Apprentice 1 - 75
Journeyman 75 - 125
Expert 125 - 200
Artisan 200 - 290
Master 290 - 350
Grand Master 350 - 425
Illustrious 425 - 525

With [Milling] you mill 5 herbs to get 2 - 4 pigments. Here is the list of pigments/inks and herbs, specific for each pigment:

Approximate Mats Required from 1 to 525:

You probably need less than this, so don't mill everything.

  • 110 x Alabaster-giving herbs
  • 70 x Dusky-giving herbs
  • 170 x Golden-giving herbs
  • 170 x Emerald-giving herbs
  • 240 x Violet-giving herbs
  • 120 x Silvery-giving herbs
  • 180 x Nether-giving herbs
  • 500 x Azure-giving herbs
  • 600 x Ashen-giving herbs

Inscription Leveling Guide 1 - 75

First of all, you need to learn Inscription. You must visit a Inscription Trainer in one of the main Cities of Azeroth. You just ask guard for the exact location and learn Apprentice Inscription.

Note that there is a lot of different Glyphs at specific skill range, which require the same amount of mats. When you see [Glyph of ...], you can craft any of the orange ones, which require the same amount of mats.

Visit the Inscription trainer and learn Inscription Journeyman.

  • 80 - 101

Make any orange Glyph. When you reach 10, it turns yellow. At that point you learn new recipes and choose next orange one.

  • 7 x [Glyph of....] - 21 x Midnight Ink, 7 x Light Parchment

  • 101 - 105
    40 x [Lion's Ink]- 80 x Golden Pigment

If you haven't reached 105 yet, make more orange Glyphs.

  • 105 - 126

  • 126-129

Make sure you stop making this recipe at 129! You won't have the benefits of multiple skill-ups if you pass 129! If the recipe turns yellow at 145, and you make that Glyph at skill 144, you will still gain 3 points.

Convert your [Burnt Pigments] into [Dawnstar Ink]. You can make any orange Glyph from 126 to 129 if you don't mill your own herbs and you don't have any Burnt Pigments.

  • 129 - 147
    6 x [Glyph of ...] - 18 x Lion's Ink, 6 x Common Parchment

Any Glyph that is orange to you.

  • 155 - 176

Any Glyph that is orange to you.

    7 x [Glyph of ...] - 21 x Jadefire Ink, 7 x Common Parchment

  • 176 - 197
Any Glyph that is orange to you.

    7 x [Glyph of ...] - 21 x Jadefire Ink, 7 x Common Parchment

  • 205 - 247
    14 x [Glyph of ...] - 42 x Celestial Ink, 14 x Heavy Parchment

Make Glyphs until they turn yellow then learn new ones.

  • 250-255
    35 x [Shimmering Ink]- 70 x Silvery Pigment

You may need less of this Ink if you mill your own herbs. Because you will get a few [Ink of Sky] between 275 and 285.

  • 260 - 290
    10 x [Glyph of ...] - 30 x Shimmering Ink, 10 x Heavy Parchment

    • 375 - 379
      [Snowfall Ink]- Icy Pigment

You can use all the rare pigment available. But don't throw away the Snowfall Ink, because you need it for Northrend Inscription Research.

Make sure you stop making this recipe at 379!

  • 379 - 382
    1 x [Glyph of...] - 3 x Ink of the Sea
  • 382 - 385
    5 x [Glyph of...] - 15 x Ink of the Sea

There are no orange Glyphs at this stage, you need to make yellow ones.

  • 385 - 386
1 x [Northrend Inscription Research] - 3 x Ink of the Sea, 5 x Resilient Parchment, Snowfall Ink
  • 386 - 400
15 x [Any Discovered Major Glyph] - 45 xx Ink of the Sea, 15 x Resilient Parchment

Inscription Leveling Guide 425 - 525

Visit the Inscription trainer and learn Inscription Grand Illustrious.

  • 475 - 482
Convert all Burning Embers into [Inferno Ink]. If you have no Burning Ember, skip this part.
  • 490 - 500
Go to Deepholm and kill these mobs until you get [Technique: Origami Rock]. Same here - skip if you don't want to farm it.

    2 x [Etched Horn] - 8 x Inferno Ink, [Scavenged Dragon Horn]

Scavenged Dragon Horns are sold in Twilight Highlands by Una Kobuna in Dragonmaw Port for Horde and by Casandra Downs in Highbank for Alliance. These vendors are only available after the initial Twilight Highlands quests have been completed. The quests require at least level 84. These items are not bound when purchased, so you can buy them from other players or from the auction house.

Do not forget that 10 Blackfallow Ink can be traded for 1 Inferno Ink at Ink traders!

  • 510 - 520
The cheapest method would be to make [Forged Documents]up to 520 or 525. It has a 24 hour cooldwon (it always resets at 0:00), but the materials are really cheap compared to the other items that you can craft at this skill level. This way it will take up to around 15 days to level Inscription.

If you really want to reach 525 as fast as possible, make 4 [Divine Companion] or [Battle Tome] or [Dungeoneering Guide]

Do not forget that 10 Blackfallow Ink can be traded for 1 Inferno Ink at Ink traders!

  • 520 - 525
Make one of the following items:

    [Notched Jawbone] - 12 x Inferno Ink, 36 x Volatile Life, 12 x Volatile Earth, Bleached Jawbone

[Silver Inlaid Leaf] - 12 x Inferno Ink, 36 x Volatile Life, 12 x Volatile Air, Silver Charm Bracelet

[Tattooed Eyeball] - 12 x Inferno Ink, 36 x Volatile Life, 12 x Volatile Water, Preserved Ogre Eye

Leveling Inscription is a good choice. It is quite profitable profession, you can earn a lot of gold with it. IMO, Tycoon Gold Addon is the best in-game addon ever made. Using it I found out all the other MUCH more profitable ways to get tons of gold easily. I warmly recommend it to you if you want to dominate the game without endless grinding.
